Happy Birthday 8 Year Old

Dear Lillian,

It is finally your birthday! You have been oh so excited to turn 8 years old. Just last night you were talking about how you would turn 9 after next year.  You love to look ahead and move on to the next thing. You are my: What’s going on today- girl, who’s coming over -girl, what’s is the plan -girl! You are a planner at heart!

You have grown so much this year, not only in height but in maturity. You tried paddle boarding and kayaking this summer and loved it!  You have an extraordinary love for your sister Amelia.  You love to hold, walk, sing and love on her.  You are taking in this new baby thing in great strides.

This year you have learned how to read silently. This is something that she has wanted to do since Kindergarten.  You have already finished a couple of little chapter books.  In addition to all the audio books that you listen to there is a lot of language going in through your head right now.

Dad and I have watched you transition from a little girl to a grown up young lady.  Wherever you are you always love to hang out with the oldest girl around. That might be your aunt or a friend in a new family we are having for dinner.  This summer you helped with our Mobile VBS and helped pass out bibles, paint fingernails, and talk to kids.  You love Jesus and want to others to know him too!

We love you so much 8 year old!

Norah turns S I X

Dear Norah,

Today is the day that you have been counting down to for quite some time. Yesterday you wanted to do everything fast: eat fast, go to bed quickly just so your birthday would come faster.  You are just so excited!

Norah you have grown up so much this past year! You went from saying sounds to reading books. You have grown taller and lost your first tooth.  You ask so many questions and want to know the answers.

God had given you such a spirit of generosity and compassion for others.  When a sibling is sad over not getting something you most likely will share what you have to make them feel better!

You love love love your baby sister Amelia. You love to hold her and give her kisses. You have even gotten up early so you can have time to hold her before your siblings get up. ( which is saying something because you like to sleep in.)

Your imagination is the best! You love to think of things to play. This summer you created a fort inbetween some pine trees that had entertained you and others for hours. You sing lots and can memorize song so fast.

You love to eat cherry tomatoes, watermelon, and anything bread like. Legos and American girl Dolls are are your favorite thing to play in the house, while you listen to audio books with your sister.

You are my super passionate, know-what-you-want-girl. God has blessed our family with you life and I am so thankful. We love you so much Norah Reagan!

Lots of Love,

Letter to a Six Year Old

Dear Lillian,

You are now officially  six years old.  This is a birthday that you have been pretty excited to get to.  You can say the date of your birthday.   You have been not only been growing taller but really been growing into a young lady. You are pretty proud to be the oldest and first born in the family.

This week alone you learned how to ride a two wheel bike, with no training wheels, all the way down to the end of the driveway. You have been reading 3-5 letter words, writing and learning cursive and  trying so very hard to learn to read.  You have also gotten your own library card, so that you can check  out as many ballerina books as you want!

You are an early riser, up around 6 and I think that this is the year the you may give up naptime for good. You love to listen to books on tape to during rest time.  You often will listen to chapters and chapters of books while you color in our bedroom.

I am learning that you are a girl that likes to know the plan for the day. I often hear, “So what are we going to do today?”. If you could you would either have people over or go to someones house every day of the week.  You enjoy and love to play with others.

Play time is all about making forts with blankets, playing house and making little spaces for you, Norah and your dolls. You like to dress up as Elsa and have your doll match in her Elsa dress.

Your hair is as long as ever, and you still love to wear skirts and dresses.

You use phrases like, ” That is interesting” or “She did a really good job” ( When talking about the lady who presented for the Zoo Mobile”

God has given you a kind, compassionate, and loving heart!

I am proud to be  the Mom of such a precious gift from God!
