When the cousins came to stay

DSC_0019 (4)_3354 This week my younger sister Molly and her two children (Anne who is 2 and  Peter who is 7 months) came to our house from Monday naptime to Wednesday naptime.

This is what happened when the cousins came to stay…..

  • there were 5 kids under the age of 5 in our house
  • there was always someone getting up from nap and going down to nap
  • we watercolored paper which we turned into a heart paper chain
  • Molly was the guest teacher for school
  • we took all 5 kids and 3 adults in our van to go swimming for $1 night at the Luvern pool at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ( I know my dad would be proud!)
  • the girls played dress up
  • we had dance parties to kid music
  • I got to see Anne’s giggles, squeels , and happy faces

  • Leeland bonded with Molly and sat on her lap
  • the girls put on mud boots to visit the chickens
  • the boys rode in the wagon
  • Lillian and Norah held Peter and enjoyed there non-moving cousin
  • we played in every room of the house
  • Norah kept saying, “Molly, I have to tell you something….   Molly I have to show you something… close your eyes”
  • Peter sat and chewed on Leeland’s old toys

  • we played with almost every toy in the house

  • Leeland only hit Peter one time with a toy  then he learned to “gently” pat him on the head

  • Anne read, and read and read piles of book
  • the days were full and fast
  • Molly and I got to talk and finish conversations , mostly about how we like that we get to raise our children together.
  • the kids ate well because it takes  a lot of energy to play all day

  • I felt like a grown up because I had Molly and the kids over at my house and not just at Grandma’s 🙂
  • family was cherished!

and after the cousins left

  • the house was quieter
  • the kids were exhausted and Anne slept all the way to Albert Lea
  • Lillian was tearful because she missed playing with Anne and holding her cousin Peter
  • Norah said as Molly’s van was driving down the driveway, “Mom, I miss Anne!!!”
  • we look forward to the time when we are all together again!
