Red Velvet Blossems

I know a few people have asked me for this recipe so here it is. I made these for Christmas but also would work great for Valentines Day coming up!

Makes 30 cookies

Whisk:
1 1/2 C. flour
1/4 C. unsweetend cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Combine:
1/2 c. veggie oil
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 T. red food color
1 tsp. distilled white vinegar (I used white wine vinegar because that’s what I had)

Freeze:
30-32 white chocolate kiss candies (this keeps them from melting when you put them in the cookie)

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or cooking spray.
Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.

Combine oil, brown sugar, sugar in a bowl with a mixer on med. speed until creamy, 3 minutes. Add the egg and mix to combine.  (Mine didn’t get creamy until I added the egg)

Mix in food color and vinegar until incorporated.
Add flour-cocoa mixture to sugar mixture.
Scoop dough onto prepared sheets (1-2 tsp) You should be able to get 15 cookies per sheet

Remove candies from freezer and unwrap.
Take cookies out of oven and insert one candy into each cookie. Let cookies stand on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to cooling rack!

* this recipe can be doubled or stored in the freezer for up to 1 month!
